Anna Maramba partner AVcommunications

Anna Maramba

Anna is the operations captain of the agency. She ensures that the day-to-day activities of the organisation support the overall strategic direction of the company.
Prior to moving to Canada from the Philippines in 2003, Anna enjoyed an exciting career as an interior designer for renowned firm Robarts Interiors & Architecture. But little did she know she would embark on an entrepreneurial career path in her new home country. After observing a need for a channel by which traditional advertisers could connect with multicultural populations, she and Marvi Yap co-founded AV Communications—envisioning an advertising agency that would successfully engage and address the interests of the nation’s diverse cultural communities. This vision has come true many times over.
In addition to overseeing the agency’s administrative functions, Anna establishes strategic, creative and results-oriented Canada-wide event activations. With a keen focus on delivering value for clients, she develops and harnesses media partnerships while executing innovative strategies that challenge the media ecosystem.
A sought-after speaker and resource person, she has been invited by renown organisations and educational institutions such as Rotman School of Management Women in Business Leadership Symposium, Women’s Immigrant Journeys Gala by the Working Skills Centre, Academy of Computer & Employment Skills.
Anna believes in the significance of a diverse society, and this advocacy is at the crux of her work with the agency. By ensuring that the everyday activities of the organisation operate in alignment with the core values of the company, other players in the niche market are challenged to meet the standards that AV Communications has set for itself—and the bar is always set high.
Marvi Yap partner AVcommunications

Marvi Yap

Marvi steers the creative, strategic, and innovative direction of the agency.
Born in the Philippines, Marvi began her advertising career while working for Foote, Cone and Belding (Manila). Upon moving to Canada, she and Anna Maramba observed that the traditional, blanket methods of advertising failed to take advantage of the opportunity to address and engage the highly diverse population of the country. Equipped with a strategic vision—and emboldened by an entrepreneurial spirit—Marvi and Anna founded AV Communications, an agency that offered turnkey solutions for advertisers to reach multicultural consumers.
Marvi’s astute understanding of the industry, coupled with her value-creation mindset, has allowed AV Communications to stand out and differentiate itself in a niche market. The agency’s roster of blue chip clients is a testament of that accomplishment. Apart from heading business development, Marvi also oversees the deliverables from the agency’s team of creative directors and account managers, ensuring that clients’ objectives and expectations are met from a business and creative standpoint.
Marvi is a resource speaker who has given numerous insightful talks on multicultural marketing at industry conferences in Toronto and Vancouver. She has also been quoted in several industry publications. Marvi’s achievements as a woman entrepreneur has been chronicled in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Money Sense and Financial Post.
Marvi’s advocacy is evident in her steadfast commitment to elevate the standards of multicultural advertising, and that entails more than just keeping a finger on the pulse of the industry. Marvi has the depth and breadth of experience to identify the strategic and social value of having the worlds of traditional advertising and multicultural marketing intersect—in ways that are authentic and meaningful. This has been the cornerstone of her success in the industry.
